Me and Earl and the Dying Girl Review

Author: Jesse Andrews

Book Type: Stand Alone

Publication: March 1st 2012 by Amulet Books

Goodreads Summary: Greg Gaines is the last master of high school espionage, able to disappear at will into any social environment. He has only one friend, Earl, and together they spend their time making movies, their own incomprehensible versions of Coppola and Herzog cult classics.

Until Greg’s mother forces him to rekindle his childhood friendship with Rachel.

Rachel has been diagnosed with leukemia—-cue extreme adolescent awkwardness—-but a parental mandate has been issued and must be obeyed. When Rachel stops treatment, Greg and Earl decide the thing to do is to make a film for her, which turns into the Worst Film Ever Made and becomes a turning point in each of their lives.

And all at once Greg must abandon invisibility and stand in the spotlight.

Review: This kept my attention through most of the book ,but there were some parts that bored the crap out of me. I didn’t really like the way that some of the book was written like a movie script and I also didn’t like the parts were Greg was like “this book is so bad and I don’t why your reading this..”. It was funny the first two times ,but every time after it was just annoying. I didn’t really care for the characters and I was interested to read a book with an African American on the front ,but sadly the author made him a stereotypical black kid that comes from a not so great home. Instead of going to college he ends up working at a Wendy’s.

Rating: I rated it 3/5 stars on Goodreads ,but am considering lowering that to a 2/5.

*Lately i have only been reading OK books and would like some recommendation so comment down below one of your favorite book and what your currently reading.
